How one Trust is using the new Class Attendance Update Portlet
Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is a large community trust covering East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove. The organisation has a headcount of around 6,000 staff, who are required to complete a range of training – most of it via classroom sessions.
When the new Class Attendance Update portlet became available in the ESR Portal in September, the education and training department at SCFT were keen to make use of the new functionality.
The portlet allows quick and easy access to classes to enable the Education and Training (E&T) Administrators to update the attendee’s registration status, either immediately or for classes up to 7 days previously. It allows the E&T team to quickly see whether any class still need the registration status updated, and to identify any classes which need to be closed.
Lorraine Gambling, Education and Training Admin Manager at SCFT, tested the portlet with her team and was extremely positive in her feedback;
“We did a few registers from using the new portlet and found it really easy. We could add new learners and close the class too; I think it took us about 5 minutes to complete one. We plan to start routinely using this portlet so as to ensure that we put all our course registers are on, not just ones that affect the compliance report. The new Class Attendance Update portlet makes it so much easier to chase any outstanding registers, and as soon as you close the class it disappears from the main portlet screen. After a successful test with the portal we began recording all courses this way in November 2017”.
Helen Pope, Workforce Intelligence Manager & ESR Lead at SCFT commented:
“The new Class Attendance Update portlet has encouraged our E&T Admin team to update all class attendance rather than just those we report on for compliance, and this ties into our plan to re-launch full Employee Self Service as well as supporting our plans to make ESR a central source of reliable and informative data going forward. Thank you for making the process so much quicker and simpler for a team who are new to the full range of possibilities achievable with OLM”.
The Class Attendance Update portlet is now available for all Organisations to use. You will find more information in the 36.2 Release notice on KBase or contact your NHS ESR Account Manager or Functional Advisor.
